Nelson Mandela
Born on July 18, 1918 in Mvezo, South Africa Rolihlahla Mandela (Nelson Mandela) was born unto Noqaphi Nosekeni and Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa. Little did they know that their son would grow up to lead South Africa to freedom of the apartheid. Rolihlahla attended a private school where he received the name Nelson. His father had died when he was 12 and living with Jongintaba Dalindyebo. He was expelled from Fort Hare Missionary College for organizing and anti-apartheid strike on campus . When Mandela had first began his revolution against the unjust South African government it was violent. After being arrested many times , Mandela was shipped off to Robben Island where he would be spending the next 27 years of his life. During his times in jail many people protested but in result were brutally beaten and thrown into prison. On February 11th 1990, Nelson was finally released from prison. In the following years Mandela won the Nobel Peace prize, inaugurated as president, and founded the Nelson Mandela Children's fund. The fund was created to help children 0-22yrs deal with the AIDS crisis. To conclude Nelson Mandela was a noble leader with many great accomplishments and followers everywhere.
